How to get there:
The island of Poros is situated in the Argo-Saronic Gulf, 32 sea miles from Athens’ Piraeus harbor, and at its nearest point in only 200 meters distance from the Peloponnesian mainland.
This means that the island can be comfortably reached by sea as well as by land, and thus is never cut off due to bad weather conditions.
Arriving at Athens “Elefterios Venizelos” airport (www.aia.gr) you can choose between the airport shuttle bus X 96 or a taxi to bring you to Pirαeus main harbor. Both are leaving right outside the airport arrival hall.
In Piraeus, the bus stop “ Karaiskakis Square” is next to Gate 8, from where the ferry boat as well as the hydrofoil boat is leaving for Poros. Trip by bus will take more than one hour and costs about 5 Euro/person, trip by taxi takes about 40 minutes and costs 45-48 Euro. We offer a private taxi service at the same rate: driver will expect you in the arrival hall with a name sign and you avoid long queue.
The schedules for ferry boat and hydrofoil/ catamaran vary due to season. Gladly we can inform you on schedules, make your ticket reservation and send reservation code. Internet information on (www.hsw.gr), attention to last minute changes.
The classic ferry boat, which transports passengers as well as vehicles, offers a romantic sea trip with intermediate stops at the ports of Aegina and Methana. The journey takes about 2,5 hours and costs 13 Euro/person approx.
The faster hydrofoil as well as the comfortable catamaran boat ride directly to Poros in about one hour’s time, cost is 23 Euro/person approx.
Alternatively we offer a car&driver service to meet you at the airport – or any other meeting place of your choice, and drive you to Poros. The first 100 km are on the motorway, and then you will continue on country roads through beautiful scenery via Epidaurus to the village of Galata, from where you will set over to Poros in a private boat in four minutes time.
“Door to door” this trip takes about 2,5 hours and costs 140 -180 Euro depending on number of passengers, including tolls and boat.
With pleasure we organize your transfer from airport to the island, suggesting the best option in regard to your airport arrival time, and make all the necessary reservations.
On Poros harbor we will meet you upon arrival, take over your luggage and guide you to your accommodation.
Poros is connected with the island of Aegina and the Methana peninsula by ferry boat, as well as with Hydra and Spetses Island and the ports of Ermioni and Porto Cheli by hydrofoil boat. All other island destinations can be reached via Piraeus harbor.
In case you travel with your own car or motor bike, a ferry boat will set you over from Galata every hour between 7.00 am and 22.00 pm daily. In summer schedules are every 30 minutes. Ticket reservation is not necessary.
There are public bus connections (KTEL, phone service 14505, in Greek) between Piraeus and Galata and as well as between Nauplio and Galata.
How to get around:
