THE STO ROLOI PROPERTY
The moment you enter the property, you’ll feel as if time has stood still inside Sto Roloi’s massive stone walls. No matter which apartment you choose, decoration and personal touches throughout will make you feel as if you’re vacationing at the home of friends.
Sto Roloi is located right underneath Poros' picturesque landmark, the "Roloi" (meaning "Clock Tower") and only a few stairs above the romantic harbor.
Sitting on Sto Roloi's balcony in the late afternoon hours you will watch the sun set behind the distant mountain range, which forms the “Sleeping Lady”, and boats of all sizes gliding into the bay of Poros, to anchor for the night. In fact, the island's best anchoring spot for the most luxurious yachts is right beneath the property.
Sto Roloi is situated on a tranquil street in Poros’ oldest neighborhood, undisturbed by the bustle below – perfect for vacationers who don’t want to be disturbed by noise. Yet, within a two minute walk you’ll be in the center of island life: shops, cafes, restaurants and bars along the seaside, inexpensive water taxis or buses to take you within minutes to your favorite beach, the market with all kinds of local fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood.
Garden Apartment
Garden Apartment to me is the most authentic island home of all: with thick stone walls and windows with traditional wooden shutters it provides a cool interior even during the hot midsummer days. Beautiful wall colors, scattered antiques and, most of all, the artificially crafted, patterned floor tiles give this apartment its characteristic flair.You enter Garden Apartment, ascending a small flight of steps from the alleyway, through heavy carved wooden doors, into an open plan dining area. To the left, the romantic and spacious master bed room with queen size double bed features a series of paintings by Greek artist Gefso Papadaki. To the right, a cozy lounge and TV room with beautiful sea view invites you to curl up with a book after a satisfying day of sunbathing or sightseeing, the relaxing smell of herbs wafting in from the garden at sunset as it opens to a lovely veranda in the properties’ rock garden. The small garden, which is shared with the adjusting Studio, offers a lovely sitting area shaded by a lemon tree. A marble table, stone bench and comfortable chairs make it a favorite spot for breakfast, a chat with friends over a glass of wine, or playing a game of backgammon, that most beloved of Greek pastime. A modern kitchen and a comfortable bathroom with walk-in shower complete the apartment. It features wireless internet, AC in all rooms and electric heating for the winter months.The Garden apartment offers accommodation for up to 4 people through an oversize queen-size bed in the bedroom and a queen-size living room sofa.
Terrace Apartment
Upstairs, the Terrace Apartment's magnificent views and interior design in the colors of the sun create a light and airy yet peaceful atmosphere. The spacious living room, decorated with a mixture of comfortable modern furniture and Greek country antiques, offers a breath taking view over the island's rooftops. Pass through the French doors onto the balcony with its elaborately curved ancient iron balustrade and you'll have the entire bay of Poros at your feet. A tiny rooftop terrace offers completely private sun bathing and is your ultimate retreat. The master bedroom features stunning high, beamed ceilings. The master bathroom includes a steam room and hydro-massage shower. A cozy sitting room, overlooking the sea as well as the garden, can also be transformed into a second bedroom with a queen size double bed. The kitchen, whose ancient fireplace now houses a modern stove next to a marble sink, opens to a typical Greek interior courtyard. Throw open the doors and the scents of sun and sea, flowers and herbs will flow in. The Terrace Apartment offers accommodation for up to 5 people through a queen-size bed in the bedroom, a queen-size bed in the sitting room, and a single bed in the living room.
The ambiance of the cozy studio, a detached tiny building in the garden that had originally been the washhouse of the property, is at once intimate and welcoming. We restored the original building and transformed it into a cozy space that despite its size offers a comfortable living room as well as a modern cooking station and bathroom with shower. The Studio opens to the veranda, shared with the Garden Apartment, with its’ own sitting area amongst rosemary and thyme bushes. Recently we created a lovely, little rooftop terrace in Roloi's rock garden overlooking the bay of Poros for the exclusive use of Studio's guests. Studio offers air conditioning, wifi, satelite TV and radio/cd player. It hosts comfortably up to 2 persons through a queen-size bed in the living room.
